Sevilla officially launched yesterday the winter sale. This is the period, when merchants must attract customers who are not willing to spend because of the crisis. Discounts of 30 to 50 percent, which are widespread in shops and supermarkets do not attract huge amounts of clients. Also the free gifts and even classic 2x1offers are not working well. In the difficult time you have to resort to the imagination, which is exactly what the Spanish clothing company Desigual has been doing, proposing free clothes for the first hundred of people who entered the store. It was the prize for courage and perseverance, because of the low temperature, which was in the morning after the extreme cold night (for Span). The initiative was a successful undeniably under influence of the media as dozens of journalists recorded this special event, which was shown worldwide.

In the early hours on Friday afternoon the crowd began to gather in front of the store. Some have tents next but most of the people who brought sleeping bags spent night in cardboard boxes found in the nearest garbage containers.
Nearly 500 people in the queue received numbers registered in a list. Early morning a fatigue can be seen on the faces and some left the queue thinking that such suffering was not worth the free clothes. Just before 9:00 the people dropped their clothes remaining shorts, panties and bras. Hysteria broke out, many started to jump, sing, dance and kiss. What happened next is obvious.

The Spanish company Desigaul has began the same campaign in Berlin, New York, Stockholm, London, Amsterdam and Prague under the heading: ‘ Enter half-naked – leave fully dressed ‘

The largest increase in the number of foreign tourists in Andalusia during the year 2011 (from January to October) was made by Poles, over 58%. There were over  91.941 of Polish tourists, about 41.9% more than in the previous year, who spent 318.27 days in Andalusia, with the average stay of 3,46 days.

Ryanair, the low-cost airline experience trouble in Spain for exploiting female workers, cutting ruts and charging extra fees for additional services.
Ryanair has outraged Spanish housewives, which complained about the 2012 Ryanair Cabin Crew Charity Calendar featuring 13 female cabin crew members wearing bikinis. The Provincial Association of Housewives and Consumers of Valencia (TYRIUS) has issued a formal complaint to the airline for “using the female body” in advertising – watch video

Even though the calendar will raise money to send 50 British families with children who suffer from a fragile skin condition on holiday to Spain, TYRIUS said had called for it to be taken off sale. Ryanair has already raised 100,000 Euro for the charity, DEBRA to enable 50 families from throughout Europe, with sick children to enjoy a respite week in DEBRA’s specially adapted holiday accommodation in Malaga, Spain.
More bad news was announced by Ryanair on Tuesday that the airline is to cut half of its routes to and from Alicante’s airport El Altet next summer because of the continuing conflict over passenger airbridges cutting Ryanair’s traffic at Alicante is to 2 million passengers, from 3.5 million this year and losing 1,500 jobs.

The airline’s announced new fees of 20 or 25 Euro per suitcase checked in during the high season of June, to September and Christmas from today, Thursday 15 December. Checking in baggage will be charged 60 Euro for, compared to the 35 Euro charged up to now.

During the low season, f(October to May)checking each suitcase will still cost 15 Euro. The already controversial charge to print out your boarding pass at the airport will increase from 40 to 60 Euro for those who have not done so at home.

Spanish news agency Europa Press reports that frequency on 19 international routes (mainly connections with the UK, Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia and Poland) is to be cut back despite of opening a new base in Mallorca next year with four based aircraft, operating 47 routes, 17 of which are new, delivering 2.8 million passengers a year and creating up to 2,800 jobs.

El Caminito del Rey (The King’s path) is a pathway closed after four fatal accidents in 1999 and 2000. The current state of the path is tragic, which makes it more attractive for adrenaline-junkies who enjoy great excitement, incredible views and the enormous exposure, which takes breath away – see the video.

The video maker is a highly experienced German climber called Daniel Ahnen. He has filmed his own traverse of the walkway twice, once when he was using a harness and once without.  In the last walk made in 2010 he also used a small steadicam – en equipment, which allows smooth flow of camera movement. El Camino del Rey, extending along the limestone walls in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes National Park, near the village of El Chorro, in the Spanish province of Malaga. Below flows the river Guadalhorce  the vertical reach the height of over 100 metres. The path of the King leads in most of the right wall (right bank of the river), on the concrete platforms fixed to the rocks. Opposite  wall (left) is cut in several places by bridges and tunnels for a railway line.
In 1901 the employees of Salto del Chorro and Salto del Gaitanejo (builders of a dam) needed a road  to ensure the transport of materials. Work in the construction lasted 4 years and was completed in 1905. In 1921 King Alfonso XIII walked this dangerous journey during the festivities of the opening of  Guadalhorce dam. Since then, the trail is called the Path of the King.

Local authorities (Junta de Andalucía) has prepared a plan for 7 million EURO plan for comprehensive renovation of the historic route of outstanding beauty -  one of many tourist attractions in the surroundings of El Chorro
