The grand final of Malaga Carnival 2009

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

This year the Malaga Carnival takes place between 14th and 22nd  February. Do not miss the burial of the boqueron ‘entierro de boqueron’ on 22nd February at 18.00h - the most famous procession of a giant fish, which is the symbol of both, the town and the locals who are often called in Spain as ‘boquerones’. The celebrations start at 12.00h with the children fiesta at Calle Larios and are followed by ‘degustacion’- testing of the fish at 14.30h also at Calle Larios. The information about the festival can be found on Spanish websites: CarnavalDeMalaga.com and CarnavalMalaga.com and in English on Burial of the Boquerone 2007 - beautifulyoo.com and Malaga Carnival on TVSpain.tv .

FERIA DE MALAGA 2008, 15 - 24 August 2008, videos

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Feria de Malaga takes place every year in August in the capital of the Costa del Sol. It opens with a firework display, a big night party on the Malagueta beach and the MTV concert featuring top international pop stars.
The following day the city centre is transformed with horses carrying people dressed in typical Andalucian costumes. The horses and horse-drawn carriages take Malagenians to the church (Santuario de Ntra. Sra. De La Victoria), where they attend a service and offer flowers to the patron saint of Málaga, the Virgen de la Victoria. This is a chance to see a beautiful display of horse-riding clothes and outfits, horse harnessing and the special andalusian costumes and dresses.
