Ruth Lorezo, Spanish dream not shattered by XFactor

Ruth Lorenzo, a Spanish singer from Murcia living currently in London has been voted out tonight by the public and will not enter the semi final of the XFactor. It has been a great surprise as she has been considered by the judges  as one of the best singer of the competition who shold enter the final. Ruth left XFactor with a believe that it is not the end but just the beginning of her career.

Here is a video of a presentation made shortly after she entered the competition followed by the her singing in Spanish and English the Top Gun theme: “Take my breath away”.

PILLOW WAR MALAGA, 15,000 registered, 200 turned up

It began on 11th November when the organizers put a note in the SUR newspaper about a PILLOW WAR to take part on La Plaza de la Constitution Malaga on Saturday night 22nd November 2008 and asked people to sign up on internet. The SUR has 190,000 readers a day and website TUENTI is visited by more than 15,000 people every day according to Alexa ranking. This triggered other local and national media (La Opinion de Málaga, Málaga Hoy, Granada Hoy, 20 Minutos, Typically Spanish). Some broadcasters put on air the “news”, (Onda Cero, Punto Radio) and even Telecinco promised a live link

Two arrests of “Most Wanted Brits” on the Costa Blanca

Following the launch yesterday of 10 new appeals under Operation Captura 2 for Most Wanted British criminals believed to be on the run in the Alicante region of Spain, the crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers can confirm that two of the those individuals wanted by law enforcement have been arrested.

Anthony Kearney, accused of fraudulent offences, including obtaining benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and setting up false accounts and Donna McCafferty, accused of committing fraudulent offences between 1999 and 2004, were arrested by the Spanish Police in the Alicante area. McCafferty was arrested under one of her aliases Elizabeth McAndrew.

The UK crime-fighting charity, Crimestoppers, and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), have launched ten new appeals “OPERATION CAPTURA” for information concerning dangerous British criminals believed to be on the run in the Alicante region of Spain - watch and embed video, download photographs and get more information on TVSpain - TOP 10 UK CRIMINALS hiding in Spain.

Most wanted British fugitives in Spain

British ex-pats in Spain are being urged to join in the hunt for the 10 most wanted villains on the run from UK justice.

Anyone who spots a fugitive in Spain is asked to ring a dedicated Crimestoppers hotline that will be answered by staff in the UK or report it on the Crimeatoppers website www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

The number to call from Spain is 900 555 111. All calls are anonymous. Information can also be passed on via the Crimestoppers website.

In previous ‘most wanted’ appeals in the Malaga region of Southern Spain 13 out of 30 British fugitives have been recaptured.

Rafael Nadal, number 1 world tennis player returns to Malaga to participate again in Malaga Master International Tennis Championship. Last year Nadal won with his countryman Carlos Moya, 6-3 and 6-4 and and become the champion of the Malaga Master for the second consecutive year – see video TVSpain - RAFAEL NADAL, Málaga Master Tennis 2007.

The event takes place in the Martin Carpena sports hall in the city during the three days on 5, 6 and 7 December. Other Spanish players taking part are David Ferrer, Carlos MoyĂ  and Feliciano LĂłpez, as well as Russian player Teimuraz Gabashvili and Pablo MartĂ­n.

The tournament consists of five matches and both Nadal and number nine seed Ferrer have secured their places in the semi final. MoyĂ  will come face to face with Pablo MartĂ­n in the first quarter final, and the winner will then go up against Nadal in the semi final. In the second quarter final, Russian player Gabashvili will play LĂłpez and the winner of that match will face Ferrer in the other semi final.

The quarter finals will take place on December 5th at 8 p.m. and all five matches will be broadcast by TVE with the final being shown live on La 2.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE, James Bond comes to Spain

Quantum of Solace’ Spanish Premiere takes place on on 6 November at at Valencia Opera House, El Palau de les Arts Reina SofĂ­a, which first opened in the country in late 2005. Quantum of Solace goes on general release in Spain two weeks later on the 21st. It is the last theatrical opening for the Bond film in Europe and the movie will be shown both: Spanish language version and version original with subtitles. Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond 007 film produced by franchise holders Eon Productions. Daniel Craig returns from 2006’s Casino Royale to play James Bond. Quantum of Solace is directed by Marc Forster and scripted by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis (with an additional polish by Joshua Zetumer).

Locations include Panama, Peru, Chile, Italy, Austria and the UK. The MGM/Columbia Pictures production began shooting on 2 January and is r released on 31 October 2008 in the UK and 14 November in the United States.
