Ikea has open new store in Malaga on 30th of October 2007, based near Plaza Mayor and next to the airport. It's Ikea’s eleventh store on the peninsula and is expected to attract more than 1.5 million visitors in its first year, with a turnover of around 101 million € forecast for its third year of opening. More than 18,000 people visited  the new Malaga Ikea store on its first day of opening. The most appreciated store areas were: Kitchens, Textiles and Soft Toys. Best sellers were: BOOMERANG hangers, BILLY bookcase, LACK shelf and KLIPPAN sofas. The restaurant had 6,400 customers, sold 2,500 hot dogs, 10,000 meat balls and 350 children menus. The company has laid on a free bus service from the local train stop. The installations near Plaza Mayor costed 65 million €, with a sales area covering 20,000 square metres on two floors, and customer car parking for 2,400 vehicles. The company announced to distribute 600,000 copies of their catalogue in Málaga province to attract customers to the store, and say 93% of those questioned in a survey said they would visit the new store.
